Posting Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services, the Senior Human Resources Consultant works collaboratively with the Human Resources team to provide advice, guidance, recommendations and advanced leadership support to the management team and employees.  This role will have a client centered approach using a single point of contact HR service delivery model, with a focus on recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, HRIS and Diversity.  This role provides advanced consultative services and is a strategic partner to an assigned portfolio that is responsive, effective, timely, progressive and proactive in establishing strong management partnerships and strategic alignment to meet all HR service needs.  Project management and delivery will form another component of this role and will be instrumental in developing and implementing leading edge Human Resources processes, programs and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Human Resources processes comply within the requirements of Employment legislation and documentation including but not limited to Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards, Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity, Pension and Benefits Act, Income Tax Act, Employment Insurance, Group Benefits contracts, Collective Agreements, WSIB, Administration Policies and Procedures
  • Works collaboratively with the Human Resources team to respond to customer needs, project initiatives and accomplish operational objectives in the areas of recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, including step 1 grievance management and Diversity within the respective portfolio of clients.
  • Provides cross functional support to other Senior Human Resources Consultants as required.
  • Provides consultative services to hiring managers on strategic recruitment and strategies to meet operational recruitment needs.
  • Ensures recruitment related documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Ensures efficient management of the recruitment life cycle; maximizes customer responsiveness.
  • Acts as resource to the Management team and employees on Collective Agreement interpretation.
  • Actively participates in incident and complaint management, including leading investigations 
  • Provides consultative services on compensation and benefits to the management team within the respective portfolio of clients.
  • Participates in Hospital-wide or profession-specific committee work as assigned or required.
  • Provides leadership and support in researching, planning, delivering and measuring outcomes for Human Resources projects, programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources Management or related field required
  • CHRP designation required
  • Five years progressive and advanced human resources experience in recruitment, compensation
  • and benefits, employee relations, HRIS and Diversity
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant employment legislation   
  • Experience working in a consultative service delivery model
  • A high energy level, self-directed, ready to take initiative and/or to be responsive and proactive in  all aspects of Human Resources  Services
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Superior problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in implementing and enhancing an HRIS; Use of Infinium a definite asset.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and HRIS
