Posting Summary:

The Physician Assistant (PA) assists a supervising physician to deliver medical services within patient care teams in various settings. Under direction of the supervising physician, these services may include conducting patient interviews, medical histories, physical examinations; performing selected diagnostic or therapeutic tests and interventions; and counseling patients on preventive health care.


• Graduate of the Canadian Forces or accredited PA education program
• Certified or eligible for Canadian PA Certification through the Physician Assistants’ Certification Council
• Current Certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (for US trained PA’s)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)


• Basic and Advanced Airway Management
• IV Cannulation
• Basic and advanced wound management including surturing
• Able to obtain health history as appropriate
• Conduct comprehensive and focused physical assessments and interpret findings
• Utilize primary and secondary assessment results to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine if further clinical investigation is required
• Order and complete preliminary interpretation of necessary diagnostic tests
• Perform Diagnostic procedures
• Collect blood samples
• Provide pharmacological therapy
• Formulate a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation results, availability of services and special needs of patient
• Use preventive and therapeutic interventions effectively
• Demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of diagnostic and procedural skills
• Recognize their scope of practice while demonstrating effective and appropriate consultation practice with other healthcare professionals in respect to patient care, education and legal opinions
