Posting Summary:

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Consultant provides clinical assessment and recommendations through a comprehensive behavioural approach to Judges and Lawyers on how to support a person with a developmental disability through the court process/criminal justice system in a manner that ensures respect, fairness and equity for all parties.


  • Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and related experience or equivalent. 
  • Significant experience working with people with a developmental disabilities in conjunction with the justice system is required.
  • Current clinical experience and knowledge of behavior therapy as it applies o the areas of developmental disabilities and positive sexuality including other special populations (e.g. brain injury, FASD, dual diagnosis including the full range of sexually inappropriate behaviour).
  • Understand how behavior therapy applies to teaching court skills to people with a developmental disability.
  • Provide Behaviour based training and assessments to Judges and Lawyers to support a person with a developmental disability experience the court system.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. 
  • Candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and a vehicle and be able to travel throughout Simcoe County.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Have experience in creating and delivering training regarding people with a developmental disability and the Justice system.
  • Have experience in completing a program evaluation.
