Mackenzie Health Receives Three Awards
at OHA’s 2013 HealthAchieve Conference

 

Vaughan/Richmond Hill, ON – Mackenzie Health and its people were recognized with three separate awards during the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA) 2013 HealthAchieve conference, including the 2013 Quality Healthcare Workplace Awards – Gold, the2013 Margret Comack National Award of Excellence in Nursing Leadership and the 2013 Booth Centennial Green Award.

 

Over the past three years, Mackenzie Health’s track record of achievements has been nothing short of inspiring. These recent awards are further evidence of the amazing transformation taking place at Mackenzie Health, in support of its vision to create a world-class health experience.Key to the ability to realize that vision is fostering an environment that promotes excellence, leadership and innovation. The following awards are a testament to the success of those efforts:

  • 2013Quality Healthcare Workplace Awards – Gold: The Quality Healthcare Workplace Awards is a partnership of the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s HealthForceOntario. The awards program recognizes organizational efforts to improve healthcare workplaces in ways that contribute to providers’ quality of work life and the quality of the care and services they deliver.The award recognizes Mackenzie Health’s extensive efforts to improve work life for its staff and physicians.
     
  • 2013 Margret Comack National Award of Excellence in Nursing Leadership: Mackenzie Health’s Chief Practice Officer, Tiziana Rivera, is the 2o13 winner of the Margret Comack Award of Excellence. Recipients are chosen for: exemplifying outstanding leadership skills; for having produced innovative and effective results for staff, patients and the organization; for demonstrating a commitment to the nursing profession through leadership; and for contributingto effect broad change in healthcare services integration. A long-time resident of Vaughan, Tiziana was also recently appointed as Mackenzie Health’s Chief Nursing Executive, effective November 11, 2013.
     
  • 2013 Booth Centennial Green Award: Mackenzie Health was one of four elite hospitals recognized with the 2013 Booth Centennial Green Award for a demonstrated strong commitment to going green and using reusable textiles in the Operating Room (OR). The award also recognizes Mackenzie Health as being the first on board with the Hybrid Bundle – customized packs of reusable surgical textiles and linens.

has long been one of the largest and most respected health care events in North America – the preeminent gathering place for over 6,000 healthcare and business leaders each year.The 2013 HealthAchieve conferencewas held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from November 4-6, 2013.
