PREFERRED PROPONENT SELECTED TO IMPLEMENT
MACKENZIE HEALTH’S SMART HOSPITAL TECHNOLOGY

RICHMOND HILL, ON – Today, Mackenzie Health announced Compugen as the preferred provider for Managed ICAT* Services (MIS) at the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital that will help build and implement its smart hospital vision.

Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, expected to be completed in 2020, will be the first hospital in Canada to feature fully integrated “smart” technology systems and medical devices that can speak directly to one another to maximize information exchange. The smart hospital vision – applied at the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital as well as at the existing Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital – will create a truly connected patient experience inside and outside the hospital setting by utilizing digital communications and the Internet of Healthcare Things to provide quality healthcare delivered through the eyes of the patient.

“Today’s announcement marks a significant milestone in Mackenzie Health’s vision to becoming the first smart hospital in Canada. By leveraging state-of-the art healthcare technologies in a facility designed on the principles of the Internet of Healthcare Things**, we are transforming the way patients access healthcare in our community,” says Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health.

Under the smart hospital vision, Mackenzie Health plans to develop its own wired and wireless electronic health platform enabled by secured hosting. The smart system will include unified communications (audio/video) between providers and patients and access to patient portals, community provider portals, and home health tools such as integrated private and secure patient electronic records.

Compugen will be working with Mackenzie Health to provide infrastructure and services for the devices, network, security and technology management of the new hospital. Vital to these services will be the provision and support of an integrated platform to enable smart workflows.

“Compugen is proud to be able to support Mackenzie Health in implementing its vision of the ‘smart hospital.’ Our managed information services will help Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital maintain the critical level of information availability that cutting-edge medical service delivery requires,” said Harry Zarek, Compugen’s President and CEO.

Mackenzie Health will now work with Compugen to finalize contract details leading up to the commercial close and financial close of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital in the coming weeks.
