Mackenzie Health Foundation celebrated a remarkable year of new milestones and achievements that are paving the way for enhanced patient care today and in the future for our community. We have our truly generous donors to thank for this; for believing that exceptional care belongs here and for continuously demonstrating that their values – the pillars that guide us in everything we do – align with ours.
With every donation, you are giving us the power to put our values of excellence, leadership and empathy into practice. On behalf of 7,824 donors, the Foundation was able to grant $1.8 million for much needed patient care enhancements at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, as well as set aside $27 million in committed gifts for the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. Momentum is building for our $250-million Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign – the largest community hospital fundraising campaign in Canada – to raise the community portion of the cost of building and equipping the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, as well as enhancing care at a vibrant Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital over the next few years.
The driving force behind the multi-year campaign is the passionate and dedicated 33-member cabinet, led by Chair Greg Sorbara. With the influence and support of this exceptional group of volunteers, we are confident we will reach our campaign goal.
In October, we were thrilled to announce the largest leadership gift to date to the campaign. Magna International Inc. committed a transformational $10-million pledge, which will name the emergency department at Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, the Magna Emergency.
With the unparalleled leadership of our volunteers, we set record after record with our signature and community events, with revenue totaling
$2.4 million last year. Our Las Vegas Gala in October, chaired by Lee Zanetti and Grace Sgro, was a sparkling and spectacular celebration of giving, raising $1.25 million for Mackenzie Health.
Our goals can only be achieved with the support and commitment of our entire community. A growing number of Mackenzie Health staff and physicians are emerging as donors and ambassadors, delivering a crucial message to the community – together we are ensuring Exceptional Care Belongs Here.
The journey is just beginning and soon Mackenzie Health will be comprised of two hospitals serving Southwest York Region. We are excited for what is on the horizon because we know we have an exceptional community with us.
