Mental Health - Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences for Children and Families


Mackenzie Health's Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences provides care for individuals living in York Region or Simcoe County who have a developmental disability with a significant cognitive delay, autism or are living with the effects of an acquired brain injury. Services are offered within the community to individuals living in York Region or Simcoe County.  For more information please call (905) 773-3038 or (705) 728-9143.

 

Service is determined by evaluation of needs and may be provided through individual and/or group support.  Behaviour intervention is provided to children and adults through a comprehensive assessment followed by positive-based teaching and programming.  A full range of challenging needs are addressed and include general management issues, aggression, self injury, skill promotion, and social problem solving.

Autism Behaviour Analysis Services

This program is a partnership with Kerry’s Place Autism Services, the Children’s Treatment Network and Kinark Child and Family Services. The program provides Applied Behaviour Analysis to individuals up to the age of 17 and who have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. This is a short term program of 2-6 month and focusses on four areas of need. The four areas of need are communication, social/interpersonal skills, activities of daily living (ADL) and behaviou /emotional regulation.

Central East Autism Program

The Central East Autism Program offers intensive behavioural intervention to children and youth, who are diagnosed with moderate to severe Autism. The Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences provides direct clinical interventions through Instructor Therapists and Senior Therapists who work directly with the children and parents. The Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences works in partnership with Kinark Child and Family Services who provides initial assessments and referrals.  Individual program sites are located throughout York Region and Simcoe County.

Sexuality Clinic of York and Simcoe

This clinic offers a comprehensive sexuality service is offered to children and adults who have problems with their sexual behaviour.  The focus of the clinic is on promoting positive sexuality through assessment, treatment, and counseling.  The concerns addressed include a wide range of problematic sexual behaviour ranging from the inappropriate to the forensic.  Services are provided through individual and/or group support. Services are offered within their community to individuals living in York Region or Simcoe County.

Simcoe County Behaviour Clinic

The Simcoe County  Behaviour Clinic  provides care for individuals living in York Region or Simcoe County who have a developmental disability  including those who may have Mental Health needs.  Service is determined by evaluation of needs and may be provided through individual and/or group support.  Behaviour intervention is provided to children and adults through a comprehensive assessment followed by positive-based teaching and programming.  A full range of challenging needs are addressed and include general management issues, aggression, self injury, skill promotion, and social problem solving.
