Discharge time is 9:00 a.m. If you are notified of your discharge after 9:00 a.m. you will be given three hours to make arrangements for pick-up. Your physician is responsible for advising you of your expected discharge date, which will be confirmed by the nurse. Please ensure that you arrange for transportation to your home or alternate level of care setting at the time of your discharge. If you are being discharged home or to a retirement home, the Home at Last Program may be arranged free of charge by the Clinical Practice Leader (CPL), Utilization Coordinator or designate.

 

If you do not leave your room at the confirmed discharge time, you will be charged a daily rate. Your nurse, Utilization Coordinator and/or Clinical Practice Leader (CPL) can help you with arrangements. Please be sure to take any instructions provided to you, medications and all personal belongings when you leave. Prescriptions for medications may be filled at the hospital pharmacy located in the main lobby or at you r local community pharmacy.

 

Before you leave the hospital, please visit the Patient Accounts office, Room 2705, Wing “C” to review your billing for products and/or services not covered by provincial health insurance such as medical devices, semi and private accommodation, etc. Patient Accounts is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Payments may be made by debit card, credit card, cheque or cash. The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) covers only medically necessary services.
