In February of 2017, Mackenzie Health will participate in an on-site survey to re-achieve Accreditation through Accreditation Canada. An independent, not-for-profit organization, Accreditation Canada sets standards for quality and safety in healthcare and accredits health organizations in Canada and around the world. The accreditation process requires documented and operational evidence of compliance with more than 2,000 internationally recognized standards and required organizational practices and examines numerous dimensions of quality. Participation in the program benefits our hospital by:
- Serving as a source of external peer review and benchmarking,
- Allowing us to assess our strengths and opportunities in areas of quality and patient safety, and
- Increasing collaboration, communication and credibility with patients and the community surrounding Mackenzie Health’s commitment to quality and patient safety.
As part of our preparation for Accreditation, Mackenzie Health is conducting an organization-wide employee and physician experience survey from April 4 to May 6, 2016. Results from the survey will help to assess the work experience of employees and physicians at Mackenzie Health. The survey will confirm our strengths and help identify areas where we can work together to improve our workplace. Survey results will be tabulated by National Research Corporation Canada (NRCC) and will help us formulate action plans required for Accreditation. These plans are assessed by the surveyors prior to their on-site visit and require the organization to clearly outline how it plans to address areas of opportunity arising from the survey results.
