Welcome to the inaugural President’s Report Newsletter. I am pleased to share this refreshed format that will include patient stories and accomplishments of our frontline staff, while providing important updates on our patient care and strategic initiatives. As a growing hospital planning for a two-site model of care, our intention is to continue to build on our strong engagement and transparent communications with our patients, community, staff, physicians and volunteers, and this newsletter will be key channel in our ability to do so on an ongoing basis.
It is an exciting time at Mackenzie Health! As you will see in this newsletter, we have achieved much in our mission to relentlessly improve the way patient care is delivered at Mackenzie Health. The launch of our Back to Basics program, quality performance and improvement boards will be key tools for staff and physicians in continuing to provide safe and quality care. Remaining focused on Back to Basics while implementing our transformational Advanced Clinical Transformation (ACT) project will support this our organization through this significant change management project. ACT will introduce a new electronic medical record, but it is more than an IT application. It will improve workflows for clinicians and provide access to information to make patient care seamless across our hospital and clinics.
On May 30th, 2016, Mackenzie Heath we host its first Patient Celebration Day. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating the courage and triumph of patients that have or are working toward recovery from illness, injury or other significant health challenges. We are asking patients to come forward with their personal health story and possibly be featured in a special evening event. The event will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Berwick Auditorium.
Lastly, Mackenzie Health is now recruiting additional Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) Advisors. I encourage patients and family members who are interested in becoming a member of PFAC to share the patient perspective to submit a request for nomination.
I hope you enjoy this inaugural newsletter! Look for issue in the next quarter over the summer months.
