Welcome to the Fall 2016 issues of our President’s Report! At Mackenzie Health, our vision is to create a world-class health experience. To achieve this, we developed a clear 2016-2020 Roadmap to Success that outlines our major strategic priorities and how we’ll succeed in achieving each of them in the next few years, to guide our journey as we grow into a two-site hospital model of care.
Mackenzie Health recently achieved the most significant milestone to date on the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project – the start of construction. This momentous occasion is the result of many years of hard work, determination and commitment by our staff, physicians and volunteers. We also recognized the support and investments made by the Province of Ontario, the Regional Municipality of York, the City of Vaughan, as well as the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team to bring an additional hospital to Southwest York Region with two plaques that were unveiled during the groundbreaking ceremony to acknowledge the instrumental role they have been playing in the project.
Work on implementing the new electronic medical record (EMR) system also continues. With the adoption sessions, validation and confirmation of revised workflow and configuration completed, we are now beginning the testing of the new processes that will innovate the way our staff and clinicians provide care.
We also continue to prepare for the upcoming Accreditation survey (page 10) and have recently implemented a patient safety campaign to remind our staff and our patients that two identifiers (full name, date of birth, home address, a recent photograph or the hospital identification number) need to be checked before critical steps in the care journey. We invite you to read more about this and other endeavours we are undertaking on this journey.
We welcome your questions, feedback and input on all our programs and initiatives.
