Welcome to the Winter 2017 issue of our President’s Report! At Mackenzie Health, we strive to provide excellent care to every patient, every time and I am very proud to have earned Accreditation with Exemplary Standing – the highest available rating that a Canadian health care provider can receive – from Accreditation Canada, for the second consecutive time. From February 6-9, five Accreditation Canada surveyors were on-site to evaluate our organization and identify what we are doing well and where we can improve, and I am very proud of our team’s sustained efforts to demonstrate the excellent care, programs and services we provide day in and day out.
While the accreditation survey is an important part of continuous quality improvement, our commitment to relentlessly improve care to create healthier communities is not limited to the on-site survey. Through improvement strategies and initiatives such as “Back to Basics” and the transformation of pharmacy services, we continuously strengthen the quality, safety and experience of care we provide. We also continue working on implementing the new electronic medical record (EMR) system, which brings significant improvements to the way we do things and ultimately to our patients. All this while caring for a record-number of emergency patients both at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital’s Emergency Department and at our Urgent Care Centre in Vaughan.
None of this would be possible without our dedicated team. We are committed to the continued pursuit of wellness of our staff members through physical, emotional, social, spiritual and career supports.
We invite you to read more about these and other endeavours we are undertaking on this journey. We welcome your questions, feedback and input on all our programs and initiatives.
