Volunteers - Volunteer Application Process & Deadlines

How to Become an Adult Volunteer:

Please read carefully as we have changed our process and deadlines from previous years.

Adult Application Process

ADULT - Applications will be accepted again starting August 1, 2017. This application is for anyone NOT attending school in September.  Applicants may be contacted for an interview anywhere within 6 months of their application.

Student Application Process

STUDENT - Applications for both high school and post-secondary students will be accepted ONLY between August 21 and September 4, 2017. Applications received outside of this period will not be considered.  Do not use the adult application portal if you are a student. Your application will not be considered. If we have vacancies at the end of 2017, we will open the student application portal again in January 2018.  Please watch our website for updates. The selection process and interview invitations will take place September 5 through 9,2017.

Successful candidates MUST be able to attend an orientation on September 26 or 28, 2017. Successful candidates will have until October 1, 2017 to submit all the appropriate screening forms in order to be guaranteed a placement.  If screenings are received after October 1, 2017, we cannot guarantee that placement will be granted.

Required screenings include:

  • Vulnerable Sector Check – volunteer’s cost $30
  • Health Screening (Tuberculosis screening, immunity screening for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella) – volunteer’s cost will vary based on their personal physician’s fee schedule
  • Completion of online education courses as assigned by Mackenzie Health
  • Successful candidates must provide a $30 refundable deposit for a uniform, photo ID badge and parking pass.

We thank you for your interest. Please note that we receive applications in excess of the placements we have available and regrettably are not able to offer all candidates a placement.

Please Note: If you are seeking a Co-op Program opportunity, please see your guidance department at school.
