Members of the public are invited to attend InnovationEX on the morning of Wednesday, April 1, 2015 to learn about some of the most recent innovations that have been created and adopted by community healthcare organizations.
This is the second expo hosted by The Joint Centres for Transformative Healthcare Innovation (Joint Centres). The expo will feature 12 innovative ideas from the six member hospitals – Mackenzie Health, Markham Stouffville Hospital, North York General Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Centre, St. Joseph's Health Centre and Toronto East General Hospital – aimed at improving patient safety, quality and value in healthcare.
Mackenzie Health will feature two initiatives:
- Mackenzie Health’s Fracture Clinic – Breaking the Cycle
An innovative change in process to help improve wait times and communication at Mackenzie Health’s Fracture Clinic, with the ultimate goal of improving the patient experience.
- Closing the Communication Gap at Mackenzie Health: Becoming Aphasia-Friendly
As the District Stroke Centre for York Region, Mackenzie Health developed an innovative tool to help patients with aphasia overcome communication barriers and improve their care outcomes.
At 10:15 a.m., Susan Fitzpatrick, Associate Deputy Minister, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, will be delivering the keynote address.
In the spirit of innovation, an Idea Café will be held throughout the event to give guests an opportunity to share ideas on how to solve some of today's most pressing questions in the healthcare setting.
At 1 p.m. the CEOs from each of The Joint Centres will participate in a tweet chat (#hcsmca)to discuss what healthcare organizations need to do to accelerate innovation, and the role that social media can play.
The InnovationEX event will take place at North York General Hospital.
