Richmond Hill and Vaughan, ON (June 20, 2024) — Mackenzie Health and Mackenzie Health Foundation are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Zee and Mario Paura as the new board chairs for Mackenzie Health and Mackenzie Health Foundation, respectively. Stephanie Zee was appointed Chair of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting on June 13 while Mario Paura was appointed at the Mackenzie Health Foundation’s Annual General Meeting on June 19. Both had previously served as Vice-Chairs on their respective Boards.

Stephanie Zee, a resident of Richmond Hill and a Vice President at a major Canadian financial institution, takes over the post from Fay Lim-Lambie, Senior Vice President, Academic with the International Learning Academy (ILAC) Education Group.

Stephanie has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector and a history of giving back to her community through her volunteer work on a number of boards and associations, including the Canadian Bankers Association and Youth In Motion. Stephanie has been a member of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors since 2016 and has helped guide Mackenzie Health through some of the most challenging and unprecedented periods for a hospital organization, including opening the first net new hospital in 30 years while managing the impact of a global pandemic. In 2021, she was elected Vice-Chair and served as Chair of the Finance and Audit and Governance committees.

Mario Paura, a Kleinburg resident and Head of Real Estate in the Toronto office at Stikeman Elliott LLP, succeeds former Chair Moris Pilla, who recently retired from KPMG.

Mario is a lawyer who brings more than 25 years of experience specializing in commercial real estate, financing, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial leasing. He is known for his strong commitment to community service, having served as President and CEO of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association (CIBPA) and as a Director of the CIBPA Education Foundation. Mario has also been actively involved serving on the committee for Ride for Mackenzie Health since 2022. He has been a member of the Mackenzie Health Foundation Board of Directors since 2020 and was a member and former chair of the Ultimate Campaign Cabinet. Mario played a significant role in raising funds to build and equip Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and to enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.

Mackenzie Health and Mackenzie Health Foundation express their gratitude to outgoing Chairs Fay Lim-Lambie and Moris Pilla for their vision, leadership and unwavering support. They also extend a warm welcome to the new Vice-Chairs to the Boards. Ruby Philip-Katyal and Joby McKenzie have been appointed Vice-Chairs to the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors and Doug Williamson now serves as Vice-Chair of the Mackenzie Health Foundation Board of Directors.
