VAUGHAN, ON – Today, Mackenzie Health, along with representatives from its funding partner organizations including the Government of Ontario, City of Vaughan, Region of York and Mackenzie Health Foundation, unveiled one of two new signs on the land designated for the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. These signs highlight Mackenzie Health’s leadership of the project and the support of its funding partners in building the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital – one sign faces Jane Street just north of Major Mackenzie Drive and the other faces Major Mackenzie Drive just west of Jane Street.
Mackenzie Health Board Chair Dina Palozzi and Vice Chair John Mills, Mackenzie Health President and CEO Altaf Stationwala, Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Vaughan MPP Steven Del Duca, York Region Chair, Bill Fisch, Mackenzie Health Foundation Board member Dr. Nickolas Voudouris and Mackenzie Health Foundation President Bill Leacy along with members of Vaughan Council, Mackenzie Health Board, Staff, Physicians and Foundation representatives gathered to celebrate this symbolic step on the journey to develop the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
These signs are being unveiled as Mackenzie Health prepares to submit the Stage 2 planning and design portion of the project, which will go to the Ministry for approval in March of 2013. Mackenzie Health hopes to receive the green light to proceed with Stage 3 in spring of 2013. The second of the two signs, which is similar in content, will be installed on Monday, December 10.
