RICHMOND HILL/VAUGHAN, ON –Mackenzie Health has submitted its Stage Two plan for the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Central Local Health Integration Network, a full month ahead of schedule.
The Stage Two plan for the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project provides specific details about the new hospital programs and services, workload, volumes, staffing, space requirements and an architectural design.
The new hospital will offer a wide range of services, including:
- State-of-the-art emergency services
- New modern surgical services and operating rooms
- Medical inpatient and intensive care beds
- Advanced diagnostic imaging
- 80 per cent single rooms for superior infection prevention and control; and
- A flexible hospital design to allow adaptation over time as further community growth occurs and new best practices emerge
In Stages Three and Four, which occur from 2013 to 2014, Mackenzie Health will develop detailed planning and technical specifications and engage in a competitive procurement process to select a company to implement the project. In Stage Five, a preferred company is chosen, plans are finalized, and construction of Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital starts.
Mackenzie Health has developed a unique and enhanced two-hospital site model of care, comprising Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, and a number of community-based locations throughout the region.
