Medical Urgent Care Clinic

Mackenzie Health's Medical Urgent Care Clinic (MUCC) provides expert follow-up care for a multitude of medical conditions.

It includes the following sub-clinics: general internal medicine, arthritis, infectious disease, heart function and acute respiratory. Patients are referred from our Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre, family physician offices and local walk-in clinics. The clinic is supported by specialists from the sub-clinics referenced above.

Referring a Patient

If you are a patient in the Mackenzie Health Emergency Department or the Mackenzie Health Urgent Care Centre, you will leave your visit with an appointment at the MUCC. If you do not receive a follow-up appointment, please call at 905-883-1212 ext. 2064.

If you went to another urgent care centre, a referral can be faxed to 905-883-0772.

How do I receive my appointment date and time?

If you are coming to the clinic from an urgent care centre or a family physician's office, please allow five (5) to seven (7) business days for an appointment.

A representative from the Mackenzie Health patient scheduling office will call you to advise you of the time and date of your appointment, and the time you should arrive.

If you receive a voicemail from the patient scheduling office, please call 905-883-1212 ext. 2004 from Richmond Hill or 905-417-2000 ext. 2004 from Vaughan to confirm the reason for the call.

How do I prepare for a visit to the MUCC?

You will receive a reminder notification a few days before your scheduled appointment. Be sure to confirm or cancel your appointment through our automated system by calling 905-883-1212 ext. 2004 from Richmond Hill or 905-417-2000 ext. 2004 from Vaughan.

Please bring your valid health card to your appointment. Please bring a list of your current medications with you.

How long does a MUCC visit take?

Your visit can take between one to two hours to complete. Factors such as how busy the clinic is, the different members of our team who will need to assess you, and whether or not you need further testing or assessment, can affect the length of your visit.

What do I do when I arrive at the hospital?

You may park in the visitors parking lot, just north of the hospital and enter through the D-wing entrance near the emergency department. Click here for more information about parking services.

During peak hours, parking can take longer than expected. Please allow yourself extra time to accommodate this. Alternate options are to take public transit, or to be dropped off by a family member or friend.

Check in at patient registration located on the second level of the C-wing (between the C-wing, main lobby and D-wing emergency department entrance) using our self-serve kiosks.

How do I reschedule my appointment?

You can cancel your appointment online using MyChart. You will need to reschedule your appointment by calling the patient scheduling office at 905-883-1212 ext. 2004 from Richmond Hill or 905 832 4554 ext. 2004 from Vaughan. Please provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

How can I obtain a copy of my test images?

You can obtain a copy of your test images through MyChart.

Through MyChart, you have online access to:

  • View your appointment calendar and details.
  • Update your patient demographic at any time and e-check in seven days before your next appointment.

After a COVID-19 diagnosis, you may be referred to our Acute Respiratory Clinic (ARC) for further care. Based upon your initial assessment at the ARC clinic, your care team may enroll you in a care plan to help you manage your COVID-19 diagnosis from home. You can follow this care plan using MyChart, an interactive, personalized plan of care delivered through Mackenzie Health's free mobile app. You'll receive real-time notifications and reminders to track your health at home.

Please note that this is a remote monitoring program for individuals with mild COVID-19 symptoms that can be managed at home. Your home monitoring readings entered into MyChart are not actively monitored by your care team and will be reviewed at your next visit with the clinic. If your symptoms worsen and you feel unwell, please visit your nearest emergency department or call 911. Otherwise, please refer to our COVID-19 Home Monitoring - MyChart Care Plan How To Guide for additional points of contact.

MyChart is Mackenzie Health's free online patient portal that allows you to access your health information at Mackenzie Health securely from your personal device. In addition to tracking your health at home as part of the COVID-19 Home Monitoring Care Plan, you can log on to any device, from anywhere at any time to stay on top of your health information, including test results, past and future appointments, visit summaries and more.

For any questions about your COVID-19 Home Monitoring Care Plan, including how to track your health, managing your pulse oximeter readings, contact information and more, please review our tip sheet:
